Director of Internet Strategy
American Rivers

Chas Offutt is responsible for creating and driving the organization's overall online communications strategy and management of the Web site. He has more than five years experience managing web content, analyzing user behavior, and marketing action-oriented campaigns to supporters and e-activists.

Prior to joining American Rivers, Chas served as the first Online Communications Director at Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER), a national service organization working to protect the employees who protect our environment. At PEER, he oversaw the strategic planning and execution of all membership/outreach efforts, online fundraising, messaging, and internet marketing. Chas has also served as an online marketing consultant for the Away Network (www.away.com, www.gorp.com, www.gorptravel.com, and www.outsidemagazine.com), database marketing consultant for a local kayaking school, and a web content provider for an environmental website in New Zealand.

Chas received his M.A. in Environment & Community from Antioch University Seattle. He graduated from Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona, with a B.A. degree in Psychoeducation. Chas was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana (1998-2000).
